The story behind Opplev Auna

Who are we?

We are a married couple (Hege and Daniel), who bought our dream property “Auna” (short for “Vågaunet”) in 2020. Together with our three boys and our herd of alpacas, we moved to this coastal beauty to settle and create our future. Hege has a master’s degree in teacher education, while Daniel is an electrical engineer. Hege started the company “Opplev Auna” (English: “Experience Auna”) in 2022, with fundings from Innovation Norway. In the past, we have spent a lot of time exploring the world, and have stayed at several unique places in different countries. These travel experiences had a huge impact on us, motivating us to start a sustainable tourism business of our own. We know the importance of quality and good service. People have lived at Auna since the Stone Age, something archeological discoveries have found; there are several protected cultural heritage monuments on our property. A rural countryside place like Auna gives both people and animals peace of mind. At Auna we want to offer visitors different experiences and activities such as sleeping in glass igloos, ocean activities like kayaking and SUP-boarding, mountain hiking, and alpaca encounters. Welcome!

Our vision

Being surrounded by the beauty of nature creates an immensely healing and joyful experience for the mind, body, and spirit. Here at Opplev Auna, you can take some time for yourself to embrace the fresh ocean air, and observe the beautiful sounds and sights of nature all around you. Glamping in our igloos can be the perfect alternative for anyone who is not big on traditional tent camping. Sleeping here gives you the unique opportunity to be in close contact with nature, while still maintaining comfort by keeping cozy and warm inside. A big goal of ours is to act as stewards of the land by taking quality care of the environment around us. We took this into account for the creation of our accommodations. Our glamping igloos leave behind minimal footprints in nature, as their building required no nature intervention, and they can also be dismantled very easily.
