Dining room in the barn

With fundings from Innovation Norway, we have over the past few months been working on a restoration project in a portion of our old barn, which now consists of a dining hall, a kitchen, a small farm shop, and restrooms for the guests. The construction has been centered around keeping as much of the barn’s original materials alive and on display. Our mission was to perserve the history of the space, and keep the project sustainable by conservation of as much materials as possible.

The story of the barn

The barn was built in the 1940s, and was a home for both people and animals the first decade. A family of five lived in the barn while building the main house of the farm. The farm has a rich history of human activity. Archeologists believe that this land once was a Stone Age settlement, and among other things an old sword has been found on the property, which is displayed in the NTNU University Museum in Trondheim today.
